I have the same problem with mine, but I'm usually able to get it fully open. The way I do it is by opening the door not the full way, waiting for the system to lift, then when it gets stock I open the door a bit more.

I haven't exactly toyed around with cameras too much, but I just bought a ZR60 camera from a thrift store today (checking its recording quality is on my to-do list), and the tape ejecting system goes much quicker than the one you have, and I hear some clicking that doesn't exactly sound too healthy. Perhaps you should remove some of the case and see what's really going on inside the camcorder when it tries to eject.

The problem looks as if at some point, someone tried to force the tape down instead of waiting for it to load. It can happen. At any rate, it looks as if it has slipped a cog or two and now it is out of alignment. This can also happen if a tape is removed when the mode switch hasn't been turned to the off position before ejecting. (Depending on which model.)

You can pull on the drawer as it's ejecting to assist it. It sounds like a stripped gear. Pulling may allow it to get past that spot.

Similar but not the same problem with my MV530i. I’ve bought all the equipment to transfer tape to DVD but I get the error message remove tape. It worked fine when I last used it but it was quite a few years ago. I really don’t want to spend much more money on something that’s going back in a drawer

Here's the solution -

Have just watched youtube of Canon MV630i with the same problem. Search for it (by MrMuzza008). It provides a temporary fix. Disconnect battery while mechanism is out so that it stays out. Then use a small scewdriver to flick a 'switch' near where a spring is attached (on one side). Had problems releasing the other side but eventually did it with NO disassembly.

I have the Cannon ZR90 Mini DV, and just fixed this problem. Mine would open and then not pop out, like in this video. Look on the right side, to the right of where it says press there is a spring. I used a small screwdriver and pushed down on that spring on the near end just a little bit, just kind of fidgiting with it a bit, and voila it worked. I am not positive exactly how to say what fixed it, but I was just kind of messing around after watching another video on a different model that had the springs on both sides, and the fix was in pushing down the springs. It has worked multiple times, so I am transferring my tapes to my PC hard drive, and hoping it will work for about 20 more. FYI I am transferring the tapes using the Elgato Video Capture device/cable, which connects using the RCA connectors, very easy.

Found a fix!!! After opening the open/eject door, nothing would happen. It wouldn’t move forward. I read a comment, before mine, about tapping on the small spring on the right. I tapped it with my fingernail and blew on it. It worked!!! I was ready to disassemble it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have a Cannon ZR200. I often don't get any sound during playback. Sometimes I do get sound. I've tried using a head cleaner but that didn't help. What could I try? The video picture is ok.

I just solved this problem on my camera. I've wanted to get my old videos digitized and could not get this cassette out. When I opened the door a gear under the part where the tape went would spin and try to pop out the cassette holder but it didn't work. I thought maybe it just needed some help, so right after I opened the door and while the gear was spinning, I pryed a bit from underneath, right about where the screw is on the metal holder, just to the right of the gear, and it slowly opened. It's worked a few times on its own since then. I wish I'd tried that 10 years ago.

I've got the opposite issue. When I enter a tape, the carriage closes but does not retract. The camera then emits about 4 beeps.

I KNOW THE ANSWER! if the camcorder is out of battery, the tape slot won't come up. you have to make sure it's charged and even if it's new and you've never charged it before, it's not charged, once you open up the packet, you have to charge it straight away and THEN the tape socket will rise. I just had that problem and solved it in 5minutes. so charge your camcorder, wait for a few seconds and then open up the socket. lemme know if it works or not. btw, if you have the battery in and it won't charge, the reason might be due to it being old. so you may have to get a new battery and charge the new battery and then turn on your camcorder to see if it works with it being ejecting.

Mine is able to turn on when I plug it in but then immediately turns off. Then even when it's still plugged in wont turn on again until I plug it in again. Any thoughts?
